#101 Fundamentals of Photography a six-week Class
This class is a 6-week, 4-hours per night or a a 4-hour per day class, (seven-sessions in total class). It is designed for the beginning photographer who has recently purchased a digital DSLR camera, a mirrorless camera, or even for people looking for a refresher on technique. This class covers exposure, shutter speeds, ISO and f/stops. Learn composition techniques such as: The Rule of Thirds, leading Lines, S curves, C curves and the Light Isolate Theory. In addition to learning about the use of filters, flash, extension tubes and tele-convertors; students will study travel photography, portraiture, close-ups (Macro) and how to overcome the full automation in todays cameras. Learn about wildlife photography, nature photography, how to shoot sports. We may view artistic portrayals of the nude/figure as fine art images. Any Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera or mirrorless camera that can be adjusted for manual operations as well as automatic exposure model is welcome in class as long as it is not an automatic exposure only camera (no point and shoot cameras or cell phone cameras permitted).
Expect homework assignments! Expect reading assignments! Do not be missed. The word "Fundamental" in the class title does not mean "elementary" photography. Experienced photographers will still benefit from this class nearly as much as a beginner. You will be sufficiently challenged during this class because of the small class size. Each student will get a great deal of personal attention. Today's digital photographers will learn about the merits of shooting RAW files compared to .JPEG or .TIFF file formats, setting white balance and how to read a histogram. The seventh session is an all-day Saturday (or Sunday) session at the Farmington Hills campus from 10:00AM to 5:00PM called "Break the Rules".
